My hair is a blessing. I have thick, but not too thick, brown straight hair. The kind of straight that creates waves if cut in layers but gets very straight if wanted.
However, I always wanted to have curly hair. And I also wanted to be blond but I never really considered that option (have you seen my eyebrows?). Like A Prayer and Madonna in general had a big influence when I decided to curl my hair in the 90's.
Yes, I had a perm. Didn't you? I loved it!! My curls were very natural, more waves that curls actually, well, big curls, I'd say. Not the fried hair perm. I even believed it was mine. It wasn't though. I don't really remember why or how I stopped the perm era...I wonder if that was the time I cut my hair short, boy-short. Yeah, everybody has a past.
Haircut traumas are also known to me. Two years ago, my hair was extremely long and I decided that I had to go to the hairdresser. Before I went, I played in my head with the idea of having curls again. At the end, I opted to get a haircut but ended up with the horror of a short unshaped hair disaster. I cried, aged 27, in front of my mirror. I would wake up to touch my hair and my eyes would tear. I got over it after months and another rescue-haircut. And now that I need a haircut, I am reviving the horror in my head somehow.
I know curly hair is not that popular nowadays and the word perm has almost disappeared from hair salons. You may even be thinking I am crazy, and I probably won't even really consider it. But just for a while, for a post, let me fantasize.
The reason why I love curls so much is because I think the romantic look somehow softens my face. Well, and I just love curly hair, really. Also, when you tie it up, it has a lighter look and I really like that.
I wonder if you can still straighten your hair and get it back to curly if you have a perm. What do you think? If so, I might consider it seriously..mmm...a lot of thinking to be done...
